History

History of Banaswadi Bible Church

In 1989 Emmanuel Church under the leadership of Rev. Bhooshanraj Thomas has a foresight to plant a church in Banaswadi area. Rev. Booshanraj, Mr. George Samraj along two women and youth of Emmanuel Church, reached out to the area by distributing tracks and conducting open-air meetings. This resulted in a Bible study group. Jayasheelans, Vijakumars and Raos were the first few families who formed the house group. Mr. Jayakanth initiated the mission through outreach and the little group blossomed into a larger fellowship. The house group started to grow and moved to Little Angles School in Ex-Servicemen colony.

In 1990 Rev. Christopher Gnanakan was assigned to take care of the house group, which grew to a larger group. Later he was appointed as Pastor to the congregation and named the church as ‘Banaswadi Bible Church’. The church continued to grow even larger, and hence required a bigger place to meet for regular services and fellowships. In September 1991, land was purchased in Banaswadi area (Vijaya Bank Colony) to build the church building. On 9th September 1993 the church building was dedicated to the glory of God.
